COVID-19 Update 27-03-2020

As the news surrounding COVID-19 continues to evolve, the staff at Allambie Vet are committed to providing a safe experience for you and your pets. We have had to make some significant changes to how we operate our hospital day and this will affect your experience with us in the immediate future. This includes our team, hospital opening hours, daily surgery limits and consultation protocols.

Allambie Vet is following the advice of the Australian Government and have initiated changes that will reduce the risk of Coronavirus transmission throughout our community. Our changes are designed to make your visit to our hospital safer and to keep our staff safe as well. We understand some of these changes will not be convenient for our clients.

NEW Hospital Hours as of Monday 30th March

Monday – Friday 8am – 7pm

Saturday 8am – 5pm

Sunday CLOSED

We have had to divide our entire staff into three smaller teams.

These teams consist of:

  • Two Veterinary Surgeons
  • Three Veterinary Nurses
  • One Animal Attendant
  • One Receptionist

These three teams are now on a two-day rotation. This strategy was designed to reduce the risk of the whole team being forced into isolation, if one member tests positive for Coronavirus. This decision was made to reduce the risk to our staff and to ensure we can continue to deliver medical services to your pet during this time. As a result, it may not be possible for you to see your preferred Vet at all times.

We have implemented a number of new protocols to ensure we continue to provide our regular standard of care:

  • Only ONE owner to accompany your pet to the appointment.
  • Please call reception once you have arrived in the car park. Wait in the car, the park or on the bench outside until the vet is available.
  • The treating vet will discuss any health concerns via the phone or 2m distance. We will take your pet into the clinic for a physical examination with a nurse holding. Followed by a discussion with the appropriate treatment plan via the phone or 2 m distance while you wait outside the hospital.
  • Repeat medications and prescription diets must be pre-ordered. Once medications are dispensed, our receptionist will call you for payment. Medications and food will be placed outside under cover for collection
  • If entering the hospital please stand behind the black tape at reception.
  • Use the hand sanitiser provided at reception upon arrival to the hospital.
  • No further complementary nail trims or anal glands.

Do not enter the hospital if:

  • You have travelled overseas, interstate or been on a cruise ship in the last 14 days.
  • Been in contact with someone who has a confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19.
  • You have any of the following symptoms FEVER, COUGH, SORE THROAT, SNEEZING or RUNNY NOSE.
  • If you are unsure about your pet’s health and an appointment is required, please call Allambie Vet anytime to discuss with a nurse or vet.

The best way to keep up to date with Allambie Vet’s response to COVID-19 updates is by following Allambie Vet on Facebook and Instagram.

Allambie Vet Hospital is committed to providing you and your pets with consistent care during this very difficult time. We appreciate your support and patience.
