When your pet is suddenly unwell or you find yourself needing emergency or urgent care, you want to know they’re in capable hands. That’s why our investment in continuing education and updating our equipment is such an important part of what we do at Allambie Vet.
Recently, I completed the Emergency & Critical Care (ECC) Certificate to further strengthen my knowledge in managing emergency and critical patients. This means I can respond quickly and confidently to pets needing emergency or urgent care, using the most up-to-date medications and treatments available.
Having the right knowledge, skills, and access to appropriate medications, treatments, and equipment can make all the difference in whether a patient survives or how well they recover from a critical event.
The Foundation Certificate in Emergency & Critical Care (FCertECC) is a postgraduate qualification developed by leading emergency specialists. It provides vets with advanced skills to manage a wide range of emergencies confidently and safely.
Accredited internationally by the ISVPS (International School of Veterinary Postgraduate Studies), this program equips vets with a globally recognised qualification in Emergency & Critical Care.
Emergencies can happen at any time, and pets can become critically unwell without warning. In these moments, immediate treatment can be lifesaving.
Our team of veterinarians wants to be prepared to help your pet straight away under any circumstances. We also share this knowledge and training with our entire veterinary team and experienced nurses, who play a vital role in the care of emergency and critical patients.
At Allambie Vet:
I (Dr Kate) and Dr Faon have completed the ECC certification
Dr Dani and Dr Louise are currently finishing their training and will sit their exams soon
This means your pet can be stabilised on the spot, whether they come in with seizures, heatstroke, toxic ingestion, trauma, breathing difficulties, collapse, or life-threatening conditions like GDV (bloat).
Having a team of vets working together means your pet benefits from collective knowledge, skill, and support to achieve the best possible outcome.
When your pet is treated at Allambie Vet:

I love emergency work. It’s intense, but incredibly rewarding. There’s nothing better than seeing a critically unwell pet walk back out the door with their tail wagging. Knowing I’ve built the knowledge and confidence to make a difference in those moments is exactly why I did this course.
